Plan to add plus 100 thousand MW power by 2012 announced by the Government of India has chartered a major role for the North Eastern Electric Power Corporation for accelerating the pace of power development in the North East. NEEPCO has finalised an ambitious plan to take up a number of new projects during the current plan period including 1,500 MW Tipaimukh H.E.Project, Manipur, 600 MW Kameng HE Project in Arunachal Pradesh, 500 MW Tripura Gas Project . The Corporation has already taken a number of initiatives to meet the national aspirations. These include speedy implementation of the ongoing projects, and improving the machine availability of the operating power stations. A comprehensive plan has been finalised to add 4380 MW of power in the coming years.
The Board of Directors of the Corporation has been constantly deliberating on various challenges facing the Corporation. Major decisions have been taken to streamline the working environment in the organisation. These include faster decision making process, effective monitoring and well-defined role of each individual Department and project.
As a part of the new strategy, it has been decided that the powers delegated with me by the Board of Directors are further sub-delegated at various levels in the organisation to ensure that executives have sufficient flexibility to take decisions without frequently seeking approvals from their superior. The revised Delegation of Power contained in this publication will come into effect from 01.02.2003 .
I hope the Delegation of Powers will be judiciously utilized by the concerned executives. I am sure the Delegation of Powers will further streamline the decision making process in the NEEPCO.
