• The Govt. of Meghalaya agreed in principle for allotment of the project to NEEPCO. • However, signing of MOA is yet to be concluded, which is expected to be signed shortly. • Survey & Investigation for preparation of DPR shall be taken up only after signing of MOA. |

Kameng-I HE Project (1120 MW) |

• The MOA for execution of the Project was signed with Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh on 21st September, 2006 . • Survey & Investigation activities and preparation of DPR could not be taken up due to dominant environmental issues involving Pakke Tiger Reserve. • The matter was placed before the EAC, MOE&F, GOI with Terms of Reference and scoping, who recommended obtaining clearance from Standing Council of National Board of Wildlife (NBWL) for the area falling under Pakke Tiger Reserve. • The application seeking permission for carrying out survey & investigation was submitted to the Addl. PCCF (WL&BD) & Chief Wildlife Warden, Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh on 20.03.2008. • Further, as per the minutes of the second meeting of Inter Ministerial Group held on 7/10/2009 to Guide & Accelerate the development of hydro power of the North East, the Corporation vide its letter dated 30.11.2009 has solicited intervention of the State Government in the matter of obtaining clearance of NBWL & Hon'ble Supreme Court. • Keeping in view the difficulties in diverting forest land under Sanctuary for non forest purpose, alternative studies have been carried out to minimize the submergence area and the Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh has been requested vide letter dated 29.12.2009 for advice for development of the project with reduced Installed Capacity to minimize the submergence area or as deemed fit.

• Project Area has been identified. Preliminary survey works completed. • Empanelment of consultants for preparation of FR/DPR made. • Application with requisite fees for coal linkage submitted to the Ministry of Coal in December, 2006. • Necessary action has been taken up for formation of a Joint Venture Company, for planning, extract mine and supply the requisite coal to the project. • In view of the decision of the Govt. of Meghalaya dated 09.04.2008 regarding non-oprtationalisation of the MoA, all the activities of the project has been held up. • Signing of revised MOA is yet to be concluded, which is expected to be signed shortly .

• The draft MoA was submitted to the Govt. of Meghalaya on July, 2007. Subsequently, proposal for setting up of the project in Joint Venture mode with the State Govt. was submitted on 28.08.08. Clearance from the State Govt. is awaited. • Empanelment of consultants for preparation of FR/ DPR has been made. • Necessary application with requisite fees was submitted to the Ministry of Coal for Coal Linkage in December, 2006. |
